High Quality Herefords

It wasn’t by chance that Smitty and Teresa Cox of Cox Hereford Ranch chose to raise Hereford cattle. Herefords are a popular choice due to their strong maternal traits, low maintenance and gentle disposition, says Teresa Cox.
Cox Hereford Ranch is located near Jefferson in the fertile Willamette Valley of western Oregon.
The ranch was originally settled in 1843 by Smitty’s pioneer family who traveled on the first wagon train to Oregon.
Smitty is the sixth generation on the ranch. At the early age of 10, he bought his first registered heifer. He later started buying Hereford cattle in Canada and brought them to Oregon in 1968.
“Our goal is to raise quality, sound cattle,” says Teresa. “The registered cow herd genetics represent Spidel, Harvie Raftsman, GH Rambo, and AA PRF Wideload. We strive to provide high quality seed stock cattle to commercial cattlemen, purebred breeders and youth.”
Smitty and Teresa are also members of the American Hereford Association Total Performance Records (TPR) program. “We believe in performance testing and keeping precise records as a vital tool in breeding animals with desirable traits,” Teresa adds.
Bulls and female Herefords are for sale (private treaty) throughout the year at the ranch. For more information, please email Teresa and Smitty: coxherefords@msn.com.
